Labor is Bringing Back the Bikies

Dec 10th, 2016

All Queenslanders should be concerned about Labor’s rolling back of Queensland’s tough criminal gang laws.

This decision to meddle with the nation’s toughest criminal gang laws will have far reaching consequences, and we know bikies are currently recruiting in now Labor’s soft laws being have been given the green light.

The government has even been forced to admit that new bikie clubhouses could ‘spring up’ right across Queensland.

The LNP’s tough laws prevented gang crime in the first place, our laws drove criminal gangs out of Queensland and we saw a massive drop in crime rates across the state as a result. We are unapologetic about our strong stance on organised crime and keeping Queenslanders safe.

But under Labor’s laws – it is only a matter of time before bikies are running riot on our streets and brazenly declaring they are running things once again.

The only way to effectively deal with organised crime is to have tough laws and proper resources targeted at busting up organised crime – whether they are bikie gangs, paedophile rings or underworld crime bosses.

Please add your name to the petition below to tell the Palaszczuk Government that you support cracking down on crime and keeping our community safe.

Premier, if there were ever a group of people that you need to take a zero tolerance approach towards, it’s the bikies. Don’t let them back on the streets, don’t let them organise and distribute drugs again and don’t be fooled to believe that their friendship is worth the cost that society will suffer.

    Note to Current State Government:
Please DO NOT “water down” our current QLD Bikie Laws. This is being asked to protect our community, our children and our future. Please be remembered for the good you have done for this wonderful state of Queebsland and not what you have destroyed.
    A very concerned QLD Voter

PLEASE , PLEASE do NOT change these laws. Please see Richard Arundels comment from September 14 below. The community has a RIGHT to feel safe and our children and grandchildren should be protected from violence. Thank you. A very concerned citizen.

I am very concerned at this break down in fundamental law and order. Have I now wasted my life’s

  9. Steve Goodall September 14, 2016 at 1:56 pm #

I agree that the tough laws currently in place should remain in place.

  10. Jessie Dowds September 14, 2016 at 2:12 pm #

Why would you want the “bikies” taking over and scaring the life out of law abiding citizens. What’s behind her reasoning for this change?? No way, leave it as it is. The “bikies” just invite unruly people into our towns and streets causing chaos and bringing fear into other people’s lives, not forgetting about drugs and alchohol fuelled vandalism and fighting…..Forget it Labour…..why, why, why?

  11. Jan Flanders September 14, 2016 at 2:20 pm #

The bikes are the source of much violence and the production and
sale of their drugs to our young people. This country/ state will lose
the current generation of young people

leave the bikie laws as Newman government passed>. we have so much crime arising from these gangs it is foolish to think that we can restructure what has been working. protect out state our children let us set an example. How is it that gangs can invade public spaces with their unruly behavour with no regard for the welfare of citizens It is unbelievable t5hat this is an acceptive behavour stop being frightened to take a right stance

  16. Lloyd Hall September 14, 2016 at 3:41 pm #

  24. John Cotton September 14, 2016 at 4:57 pm #

There is absolutely no reason to soften the current Bikie Laws. We have had proof of the former times of frightening lawlessness by these groups.

  25. G.Drew September 14, 2016 at 5:11 pm #

If you lived on the Gold Coast before the LNP bikie laws you would know and have seen the bikies
in control of almost every thing illegal. From Drugs ,under age girls being recruited into their fold.
    and much more.
To water down these laws makes one wonder ” whats in it” for the politicians responsible.( or irresponsible )

  26. Jim ODonnell September 14, 2016 at 5:15 pm #

Why does Labor have to change everything that the Newman Govt brought in
    Keep the bikies down

  36. Robyn Cole September 14, 2016 at 8:41 pm #

  37. Robyn Cole September 14, 2016 at 8:41 pm #

  38. Neil Marais September 14, 2016 at 9:18 pm #

The bikies have done enough damage, the current laws are not too tough and have done much to create a much safer feeling state, leave them be.

  39. RAY PERKS September 14, 2016 at 9:38 pm #

  40. Roger Millar September 14, 2016 at 10:23 pm #

There are so many things that the current government could do to advance QLD. Why meddle with laws that worked. Fundamental advice Palaszczuck, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

  41. Karla Machuca September 14, 2016 at 10:30 pm #

Can you please focus in keep us safe and do your job properly. We do not need to change the Bikies laws.

  42. Kerri Johnson September 14, 2016 at 11:53 pm #

So LNP bring in the safety mechanisms and ALP take them out. Gettin rid o this law is as dangerous as turning off the safety protocols on a star fleet holo deck. Labor just leave things alone and keep our people safe.

  43. Gavin Brook September 15, 2016 at 12:25 am #

Why weaken current laws that work well

  44. Gwen sealey September 15, 2016 at 12:30 am #

  45. Alexandra September 15, 2016 at 8:27 am #

Leave the bikie laws alone Labour. They are working in their current form. This is one are of our society where there should be zero tolerance. Wake up Labour befire you habd this State back to criminals.

  46. Alexandra September 15, 2016 at 8:29 am #

Dont change bikie laws. Keep Qld safe from these thugs who care nothing for safety of decent Australians.

  47. Paul G September 15, 2016 at 8:42 am #

Premier, even if you think the VLAD laws are ineffective, there is no logical reason for your Labor Party to weaken them unless you are receiving a return for your policy change. It can’t be votes because most bikies wouldn’t vote as half of them are criminals, and the other half are illiterate. So either you are on the take or you have no respect for the law abiding citizens of Qld. (OH and by the way I am motor cycle rider).

  48. linda burrows September 15, 2016 at 8:58 am #

To compromise the safety of Queenslanders is irresponsible and reckless. Judgement will be your punishment should you meddle with this law.

  49. Judy September 15, 2016 at 9:01 am #

Do not change the bikie laws. Queensland is now known for having a tough stance on bikie criminal gangs thanks to LNP. Don’t think you can do better Anastasia Palaszczuck. You are not up to the task. Just leave these laws as they are. It has proven to be effective.

  50. Derek Wilson September 15, 2016 at 9:45 am #

  51. Steve K September 15, 2016 at 9:48 am #

    Leave these laws alone

  52. jennifer hutchison September 15, 2016 at 10:56 am #

    Please stop these changes …
and get the LNP back in power in QLD

  53. Elizabeth Gero September 15, 2016 at 11:02 am #

I feel much safer since the biki gangsters have been outlawed. Why should the current government change something that was serving most of the population well. What would you gain they don’t even vote, they are criminals. I and my friends will never vote for labour again if the law will change. You supposed to work for the majority of the people, don’t ever forget that .

  54. Cassandra September 15, 2016 at 12:47 pm #

The bikie laws were working well, they had been challenged in the High Court and survived. Why on earth would you seek to water them down? Why would you seek to curry favour with organised gangs of criminals instead of doing what you can to keep the community safe?

  55. Mary Woodford September 15, 2016 at 2:21 pm #

Leave it how it is. It seems to be working

  56. Frank yarsley September 15, 2016 at 4:57 pm #

Please understand that the current laws are working and we need a peaceful society not one that fears those that do not respect the law.

    • Wendy. Lutvey September 16, 2016 at 4:10 pm #

Leave the Laws alone door something sensible like protecting vulnerable little children who are suffering because their PARENTS are drug addicts or alcoholics.

  57. Donald McHenry September 16, 2016 at 4:08 pm #

Why change a law that is working so well? Is it because Labor is being pressured by the Union Movement of whom so many of these criminal bikie members belong?

  58. Donald McHenry September 16, 2016 at 4:10 pm #

My comments still stand and require no moderation

  59. Allan Millington September 16, 2016 at 9:03 pm #

The current laws are keeping our state free from the bike outlaws The laws dont need to be changed just so the Laboiur party can say we are doing something.

  60. Gerry Bell September 17, 2016 at 10:24 am #

The Laws are Strong, Fair, and Effective.
    Leave them as is.

  61. Simon September 17, 2016 at 7:04 pm #

Honest police get charged with wistle blowing. Tens of millions spent on not a single conviction. I think we need laws to protect us from politicians and corrupt police.

  62. Jon M September 18, 2016 at 2:34 pm #

Getting soft on bikkies, who control illegal drug activity …. why? It’s not just the damage that drugs are doing to our citizens, but also the crime it spawns and public corruption the vast payoffs encourage. Hum…..

  63. Barry Atkinson September 19, 2016 at 7:54 am #

Keep up the good work by keeping pressure on labor & these gangs out of QLD.

    • Julianna Lacey September 20, 2016 at 5:52 am #

  65. Peter November 29, 2016 at 9:55 pm #

The laws are working great. Trust labor to spike the states crime. How much longer to the election so we can vote these leftist labor clowns out of office?

  66. glenn December 1, 2016 at 6:49 pm #

Bikies are bad. Drugs and Ice have increased because QPS targeted bikies, and street gangs sold ice.
