Brisbane Metro Project

The Brisbane Metro is fully funded!

The Brisbane Metro project is ready to become a reality! The project has successfully secured $300 million in Federal funding in the 2018 Budget announced by the Treasurer. The Turnbull government is providing 30% of the project's total cost.

This is fantastic news! Brisbane will soon be home to a high-frequency metro network across 21 kilometres of existing busway. The Metro 1 will link Eight Mile Plains busway station to Roma Street, while Metro 2 will connect RBHW station to UQ Lakes busway.

This is a world-class public transport project by the Brisbane City Council (BCC) that will help bust urban congestion, deliver faster journeys, more travel options and better connections. It'll help you get home quicker to spend more time with your friends and family. If you were one of over 1,700 people to sign Trevor Evan MP's 'Fund the Metro' petition, you did your bit to help secure this funding, and ensure Brisbane is a city for the future.
